Who is SACA?

The Student Association for Campus Activities (SACA) is a Chartered Student Organization through Student Involvement. It is our mission to provide outstanding, quality entertainment for the entire student body. We hope to provide a diverse array of entertainment opportunities, maximizing learning opportunities of the members by promoting involvement, leadership development, integrity, and strong academic performance to further intellectual and social growth.

 

Essentially, we are a student-run programming board that is funded through Student Center fees. Our past programs have included events like Homecoming Week, Grocery Bingo, Tunes @ Noon, Bobcats After Dark, and Gaillardia Fest.

Position Descriptions and FAQs


  • President Job Description

    • The SACA President will serve as the primary contact person and official representative for the organization. They will oversee and coordinate the operation of SACA in collaboration with the Executive Board and help to establish/maintain relationships with other groups on campus and in the community. Their primary focus will be on oversight of the Executive Board and engagement of the general body membership. This position is paid for ten (10) hours per week at $9.00 per hour.

      • Maintain ten (10) office hours per week during Summer (starting August 2021), Fall, and Spring semesters in the LBJ Student Center – SACA office (4-4.1). 
      • Plan, implement, and lead programs to increase membership recruitment, engagement, development, and retention in collaboration with Vice President/Promotions Coordinator. 
      • Develop and execute programs that promote community within Executive Board and General Body membership through social and educational engagement – including retreats, workshops, and socials – in collaboration with Advisor(s).
      • Plan and lead weekly Executive Board and General Membership meetings (includes facilitation and leading Membership Committee).
      • Complete and maintain records pertaining to events and programs (volunteer participation, purchasing documentation, budget, logistics, room reservations, event evaluations, etc.) as required by Primary Advisor.
      • Maintain records pertaining to active membership (applications, member points, etc.).
      • Maintain the SACA email account and respond to queries in collaboration with Advisor(s).
      • Attend weekly meetings with Advisor(s). 
      • Support and maintain office standards and policies. 
      • Collaborate with university departments across campus and participate in various committees as necessary (i.e. LBJSC Student Employee Advisory Cabinet). 
      • Serve as a representation of SACA, including participation in SACA tabling days when needed. 
      • Participation in any SACA or Student Involvement activities considered “All Hands On Desk” (AHOD).
      • Other duties as assigned to support the mission and vision of SACA, Student Involvement, and the LBJ Student Center. ​​​​​​​
      • Must not have a graduation date prior to May 2022. 
      • Maintain a GPA of 2.5.
      • Must be available for weekly General Body meetings on Thursday evenings from 5:30-6:30 PM (exceptions can be made for class).
      • Must be available for weekly Executive Board meetings – date and time to be determined. 
      • One to three semesters experience in an organization leadership position or similar experience. 
      • Experience working with multicultural/diverse student populations. 
      • Ability to work in a team oriented and collaborative environment. 
      • Group facilitation and large event planning skills. 
      • Must possess strong organizational and time-management skills – ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously. 
      • Must possess strong written and oral communication skills. 
      • Must possess strong computer competence, including but not limited to Word, Excel, Outlook, and social media and marketing mediums. 
      • Willingness to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends (as events and scheduled activities require).
      • Must be available to work beginning August 2, 2021.
      • Prior membership in SACA is not required; however, it is recommended. 
      • Preferred experience with task management applications like Trello/Asana/ClickUp, etc. 
      • This position will end in May 2022 and if desired, the individual will need to reapply for the 2022-2023 Academic Year. 
      • This position will only be paid for 10 hours per week. Any time committed to SACA activities in addition to that will be considered service to the organization.
  • Vice-President/Promotions Coordinator

    • The SACA VP is responsible for the promotion of the organization’s involvement opportunities, programs, and other campus-wide initiatives. The VP will serve as the secondary contact person and an official representative for SACA in coordination with the President. They will organize a branded presence for SACA, facilitate the development of original content, and assist. This position is paid for ten (10) hours per week at $9.00 per hour.

      • Maintain ten (10) office hours per week during Summer (starting August 2021), Fall, and Spring semesters in the LBJ Student Center – SACA office (4-4.1). 
      • Facilitate the creation and implementation process of engaging text, image, and video content (includes some creation of unique content as well as working closely with Graphic Designers and members) to promote SACA and its events via print, social media, website, newsletters, and other marketing mediums.
      • Confer with Executive Board members to determine marketing strategies for events and suggestions for new ways to attract event attendees, like promotions, competitions, and tabling days. 
      • Plan, implement, and lead programs to increase membership recruitment, engagement, development, and retention in collaboration with President. 
      • Facilitate online conversations with stakeholders and respond to queries in collaboration with Advisor(s). 
      • Complete and maintain records pertaining to events and programs (volunteer participation, purchasing documentation, budget, logistics, room reservations, event evaluations, etc.) as required by Primary Advisor.
      • Maintain the SACA VP email account and respond to queries in collaboration with Advisor(s).
      • Attend weekly meetings with Advisor(s). 
      • Facilitate and lead the Marketing Committee in collaboration with Graphic Designers - includes initiatives for social media takeovers, photography, and other general strategies for events.
      • Serve as a representation of SACA, including participation in SACA tabling days when needed. 
      • Participation in any SACA or Student Involvement activities considered “All Hands On Desk” (AHOD).
      • Other duties as assigned to support the mission and vision of SACA, Student Involvement, and the LBJ Student Center. ​​​​​​​

      • Must possess knowledge of basic marketing principles. 
      • Experience with multiple social media platforms; including, but not limited to Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, and TikTok. 
      • Must possess strong written and oral communication skills. 
      • Must possess strong computer competence, including but not limited to Word, Excel, Outlook, and social media and marketing mediums. 
      • Willingness to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends (as events and scheduled activities require).
      • Must be available to work beginning August 2, 2021.

      • Preferred experience with design platforms like Canva, Photoshop, etc. 

      • A portfolio of previous work created is not required; however, it is recommended. Candidates that provide a portfolio may receive preference over those without. 

  • Graphic Designer

    • The SACA Graphic Designer(s) will create visual concepts to communicate ideas that inform and captivate students to attend SACA events. They develop the overall layout and production design for advertisements, brochures, and promotional items. They will work closely with the Primary Advisor and LBJ Marketing Team to ensure all marketing initiatives are on-brand. This position is paid for ten (10) hours per week at $8.00 per hour.

      • Maintain ten (10) office hours per week during Summer (starting August 2021), Fall, and Spring semesters in the LBJ Student Center – SACA office (4-4.1). 
      • Design advertisements, artwork, brochures, logos, signs, stickers, tee shirts, and other branding and communication materials. 
      • Coordinate with Executive Board members to understand desired marketing strategies for requested projects and provide guidance on possible deliverables.
      • Take direction from written/spoken ideas and convert them into images, layouts, and other designs. 
      • Advise peers and clients on strategies and design theories to reach a particular audience. 
      • Submit designs to the LBJ Marketing Team through Wrike platform to receive grammar, spelling, punctuation, and branding edits within a timely manner. 
      • Revise designs to fit branding guidelines, specification, and/or the coordinators ideas more closely. 
      • Maintain records of work (including fonts, images, drafts, relevant files, etc) as required by Primary Advisor.
      • Attend weekly meetings with Advisor(s). 
      • Maintain the SACA Graphics email account and respond to queries in collaboration with Advisor(s).
      • Facilitate and lead the Marketing Committee in collaboration with Vice President/Promotions Coordinator - includes initiatives for social media takeovers, photography, and other general strategies for events.
      • Serve as a representation of SACA, including participation in SACA tabling days when needed. 
      • Participation in any SACA or Student Involvement activities considered “All Hands On Desk” (AHOD).
      • Other duties as assigned to support the mission and vision of SACA, Student Involvement, and the LBJ Student Center.  ​​​​​​​
      • Must not have a graduation date prior to May 2022. 
      • Maintain a GPA of 2.5.
      • Must be available for General Body meetings on Thursday evenings from 5:30-6:30 PM (exceptions can be made for class).

      • One to three semesters experience as a Graphic Designer or similar experience with a strong portfolio of illustrations or other graphics. 
      • Experience working with multicultural/diverse student populations.
      • Ability to work in a team oriented and collaborative environment.
      • Preferred group facilitations skills.
      • Must possess strong organizational and time-management skills – ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously. 
      • Familiarity with design software and technologies, including but not limited to InDesign, Illustrator, Dreamweaver, Photoshop. (*Note - the large majority of work in this role is done in Adobe Illustrator.)
      • A keen eye for aesthetics and details. 
      • Ability to work methodically and meet deadlines. 
      • Ability to absorb and apply constructive criticism from peers and clients. 
      • Must possess strong written and oral communication skills. 
      • Must possess strong computer competence, including but not limited to Word, Excel, Outlook, and social media and marketing mediums. 
      • Willingness to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends (as events and scheduled activities require).
      • Must be available to work beginning August 2, 2021. 
      • Prior membership in SACA is not required.

      • This position will only be paid for 10 hours per week. Any time committed to SACA activities in addition to that will be considered service to the organization.

  • Event Coordinator

    • The SACA Event Coordinators will produce events from conception through to completion. These positions will primarily focus on the development of planning successful events that advance the recognition of SACA and its mission. Events may include music and arts, recreation, off-campus excursions, as well as special events such as Homecoming Week and Gaillardia Fest. This position is paid for ten (10) hours per week at $8.00 per hour.

      • Maintain ten (10) office hours per week during Summer (starting August 2021), Fall, and Spring semesters in the LBJ Student Center – SACA office (4-4.1). 
      • Plan, implement, and lead programming initiatives to engage the Texas State community through activities that promote social engagement. 
      • Propose event ideas to Executive Board members in a clear manner and illustrate proactive thinking. 
      • Work with Advisor team to plan and execute programs for the Texas State University campus community – including logistics, working with vendors and venues, volunteer relations, etc.
      • Serve as the primary student liaison(s) in meetings with various departments across campus, off-campus vendors, and with potential sponsorship contacts.
      • Coordinate with Marketing Team (Vice President/Promotions Coordinator and Graphics Designers) to develop marketing strategies for individual events.
      • Manage and oversee events on the day of, including problem-solving, welcoming guests, directing event set-up, communicating with staff, organizing vendors, and managing take-down. 
      • Assess programming initiatives and provide feedback for future reference. 
      • Complete and maintain records pertaining to events and programs (volunteer participation, purchasing documentation, budget, logistics, room reservations, event evaluations, etc.) as required by Primary Advisor.
      • Attend weekly meetings with Advisor(s). 
      • Facilitate and lead the Events Committee – includes initiatives for event brainstorming, seeking feedback, and sharing event coordination responsibilities.
      • Serve as a representation of SACA, including participation in SACA tabling days when needed. 
      • Participation in any SACA or Student Involvement activities considered “All Hands On Desk” (AHOD).
      • Other duties as assigned to support the mission and vision of SACA, Student Involvement, and the LBJ Student Center.  
      • Plan and execute small- to large-scale programming initiatives meant to engage both Texas State students and the surrounding community (may include Grocery Bingo, Tunes at Noon, Trivia Nights, Movie Nights, and/or Special Events as well as Pride & Traditions initiatives like WTFloat, Homecoming, Bobcats After Dark, and/or Gaillardia Fest, etc).
      • Maintain the SACA Events email account and respond to queries in collaboration with Advisor(s).
      • Must not have a graduation date prior to May 2022. 
      • Maintain a GPA of 2.5.
      • Must be available for General Body meetings on Thursday evenings from 5:30-6:30 PM (exceptions can be made for class).
      • Must be available for Executive Board meetings – date and time to be determined. 
      • One semesters experience as an event planner or similar experience. 
      • Experience working with multicultural/diverse student populations.
      • Ability to work in a team oriented and collaborative environment.
      • Preferred group facilitations skills.
      • Must possess strong organizational and time-management skills – ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously. 
      • Ability to work methodically and meet deadlines. 
      • Ability to delegate event planning tasks to peers where necessary. 
      • Attentive to the value of staying under budget while planning event specifications.
